This time of year it becomes easy to overspend your budget on gifts. I long ago learned that even young children can learn to appreciate gifts that come from the heart sprinkled in with gifts you buy for them.
One of my favorite gifts to give or receive is “coupons” for special gifts of time. I recently gave my son a birthday gift of chocolate chip cookies to be made to order for him alone when the “coupon” I gave him is presented. Even a small child can understand what a coupon for a trip to the park or an hour playing a board game of the child’s choice can mean in today’s busy life.
Just be creative and you will be amazed what joy you can give when you give the gift of yourself, your time, and your talents.
