You Don?t Look Pregnant: Earliest Possible Signs of Pregnancy

Is it possible to know you are pregnant before missing your cycle? For women who have been trying to conceive, and are familiar with taking their basal body temperature, they may notice fluctuations in their basal temperature at the time of ovulation. When the temperature remains high after ovulation and remains high when your period should arrive again could be one of the earliest possible signs of pregnancy. Learning how to chart your Basal body temperature is quite simple and can accomplished with many over the counter products.

Are your breasts tender and enlarged? Some women notice a change in the fullness of their breasts right away, even before missing a period or any other symptom, which would lead them to believe they are showing the earliest signs of pregnancy. Frequent trips to the bathroom also are another big giveaway. What many women don?t know is that the frequency issue is related to an increase in hormones and not a direct result of pushing on the bladder, which doesn?t happen until the baby is much larger. In the first week to month of pregnancy the embryo is less than an inch long. It is the levels of (Hcg) or human chorionic gonadotropin, which causes the need for excessive visits to the bathroom.
Ironically, the first thing your doctor does at a prenatal visit is send you to the lab where you take will be tested for this exact hormone when they administer your lab work.

Some women may experience cramping at the moment of conception and for the first several weeks of pregnancy. Ligaments need to make room for the impending embryo to grow to full size. While some women do not feel these pains at all, others have been known to experience a few weeks of periodic cramping and tightening in their uterus. Many women report this as their first indication or earliest possible sign of pregnancy.

Naturally, if one actually misses a full period she might suspect pregnancy. There are several reasons a woman could have irregularities in her cycle. Simple stress or changes in the level of exercise can trigger missed periods. However, missing a period would be a good time to buy a reliable home pregnancy test kit. If the period was significantly short or consisted of spotting the advice is the same. Take a test. Once you verify your results or if you aren?t sure about whether your missed cycle or spotting, constitutes the definitive answer you need to know if you have detected one of the earliest signs of pregnancy, simply seek medical attention with a qualified doctor.

Once your pregnancy has been confirmed you may wish to celebrate. Remember a few basics: smoking should be ceased upon your glorious news as it could lower the birth weight, as should your caffeine consumption. Eat right and follow the instructions of a qualified doctor.

Kevin Pederson

Revered in the Orient for its powerful healing qualities and its
culinary uses, Ginger has been in use since ages. A perennial
herb, ginger is a greenish yellow rhizome. The botanical name of
the spice is Zingiber Officinale. Ginger is been used
extensively in the Orient; its benefits covering a spectrum so
wide, that it includes the medicinal, culinary as well as
aromatherapy fields. A pungent and flavorful spice, ginger is
one of the most widely used spices in the East.

Ginger is known to be beneficial to the body in a number of
ways. Ginger can be used in its raw as well as dried form. Raw
ginger is thermogenic, anti-flatulent, appetiser, digestive and
a powerful laxative.

Dried ginger is thermogenic, appetizer, laxative, expectorant,
stimulant and effective to cure stomach disorders. Dried and
ground ginger is used to cure cold, cough, cholera, nausea ad
vomiting, inflammations, diarrhea, colic, flatulence, anorexia,
asthma and headaches.

Ginger has extensive uses in aromatherapy as well. Ginger yields
an essential oil that is steam distilled from the unpeeled,
dried and ground root. Ginger oil is used in combination with
sandalwood, cedar wood and patchouli, which renders a
woody-spicy scent to the mixture.

The uses of ginger as a digestive aid can be largely attributed
to the presence of gingerols and shogaols, which help neutralise
stomach acids, enhance the secretion of digestive juices and
tone the muscles of the digestive tract.

The active ingredient in ginger is terpenes and an oleoresin,
which is called ginger oil. These active agents are responsible
for its antiseptic qualities, lymph-cleansing,
circulation-stimulating and mild constipation relief. Research
has shown that ginger lowers blood cholesterol by reducing
cholesterol absorption in the blood and liver.

Other Ginger health benefits * Ginger has been known to reduce
inflammation of the joints and muscle tissue for people
suffering from arthritis or rheumatism. * Ginger improves blood
circulation, hence thought to improve the complexion too. It is
also known to have reduced nervousness, ease tendonitis and
relieve sore throats. * Ginger is an effective herbal remedy for
all kinds of motion sickness and even morning sickness during
pregnancy. A great way to get rid of the uneasy, queasy feeling
in the stomach. * Scientists have found that ginger can block
the effects of prostaglandin – a substance that causes
inflammation of the blood vessels in the brain, which leads to
migraine. * Many women believe that consuming ginger tea during
periods helps minimize menstrual cramps. * Known for its warming
action, ginger is an effective treatment in colds and flu. * An
effective remedy for cramps caused by flatulence, ginger
stimulates digestion. * Ginger is a mood enhancer, the Cineole
present in ginger helps provide stress relief. * It is a great
mouth freshener and ginger tea is known for its refreshing
properties.

?Six Signs that You May Have Ovarian Cancer

Ovarian cancer is a very deadly form of cancer that women may suffer from for years before actually realizing it. The ovaries, as you know, are the female reproductive organs. It is estimated that ovarian cancer deaths rank after cancer deaths from lung cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer and also pancreatic cancer. It is further estimated that one out of 40 women will develop this illness, usually between the ages of 55 and 74.

While there are many old wives tales abounding as to who is most likely to become part of these statistics, there is not one conclusive way of preventing this illness from occurring. Some claim that a large number of pregnancies will translate into a lower percentage of risk. Others say that an early pregnancy, or a late pregnancy, will decrease the risk. It has been proven that a tubal ligation, the female version of sterilization, will actually markedly decrease a woman’s ovarian cancer risk.

It is important to note that symptoms are hard to pinpoint, since they may also point toward other ailments, or simply be part of a woman’s regular monthly cycle. Here are six signs that you may have ovarian cancer.

If you have unexplained vaginal bleeding that does not coincide with your monthly menstrual cycles, you may be experiencing a sign of illness. Any time that you experience unexplained vaginal bleeding, it is imperative that you visit your gynecologist. Keep track of the kind of bleeding you are witnessing, such as the heaviness of the flow, the color of the blood – is it light or dark -, and also any pain associated with it.

You menstrual cycles, assuming they have been fairly regular in the past, suddenly become erratic and you are still a little ways away from menopause. Any sudden and unexplained change in your menstrual cycles is a warning sign that something is not right with your reproductive organs and needs to be taken seriously. While it may simply point to an imbalance of your hormones, which can be very easily treated, it could also be an early warning sign of ovarian cancer.

If you suddenly experience back pains that you cannot link to exercise or strenuous activity the day before, you will need to be suspicious. It does not particularly matter if this back pain manifests itself as shooting pains or dull pains.

If your abdominal mass appears to increase even though your diet has not changed. Gently feel your abdomen. Does it feel tender to the touch in some areas? Do you have a sense – however fleeting – of discomfort in your abdominal region? Once again, this may be caused by a growing tumor or by increased retention of fluid within your abdomen due to the cancerous growth, and only an examination will be able to assess the situation.

Gastrointestinal problems of certain kinds, such as excessive bloating, vomiting, and continued indigestion may be signs that growths on your ovaries are beginning to affect other organs and functions of your body.

Last but not least, a somewhat oddly occurring but nonetheless obvious sign that something is off with your reproductive organs is increased hair growth.

As you can easily discern, many of these symptoms could be completely normal occurrences that could be happening for a variety of reasons. Additionally, some symptoms could easily point toward other ailments, problems, and temporary irregularities brought on by a change in diet, stress, or other living factors. Nonetheless, the only way to be certain that these symptoms are not the warning signs of this deadly form of cancer is to visit your gynecologist and request a pelvic examination as well as a blood test commonly referred to as CA-125. Other methods of diagnosis include trans-vaginal ultrasounds that will permit your physician to take a good look at your ovaries and reproductive tract, as well as CT-scans that will further provide an insight into the workings of your reproductive organs.

It is true that ovarian cancer is hard to diagnose in its early stages. For this reason women must be diligent in learning about their bodies and also listening to them. Do not simply disregard odd symptoms, but instead take them serious enough to make – and keep – that appointment with your gynecologist. Additionally, do not skip your annual pap smear, but be sure to visit your doctor’s office with the regularity of clockwork to make the earliest possible detection a reality for you.

You Need To Know The Possible Hair Loss Causes
Peter Crump

Hair loss causes range from simple to complex. Some of the simple causes of hair loss include recovery from major surgery. Such invasive medical treatments cause trauma to the hair follicles and large clumps of hair often come out when you are grooming your hair. Your doctor will advise you that this is normal and your hair growth will return to normal, but it could take 3 or 4 months. Since you know it is only temporary, these hair loss causes should not be a major cause for alarm.

Other hair loss causes from medical treatments include the effects of chemotherapy and the side effects of many antibiotics. The fact that you will lose your hair with many of these drugs is common knowledge and once the regimen of treatment is finished, your hair will start to grow back. Thinning hair causes, for people who are not taking medications, can include a lack or the proper nutrients, lack of sleep and not taking proper care of your hair.

Hormones are also thinning hair causes as well. An underactive or overactive thyroid gland can cause hair loss, but once again these hair loss causes respond well to the proper medication. If your male or female hormones become unbalanced, this can also lead to thinning hair or loss of hair. Once you contact your doctor to find out what is happening and you start a regular hormone treatment, you will start to regain your full head of hair. Having a baby is also one of the leading hair loss causes for women, especially if the birth process was traumatic. Pregnancy causes changes in the body?s hormones and once they return to normal following birth, the hair growth process returns to normal as well.

Some of the medicines that have been identified as thinning hair causes include:
?Blood thinners for heart disease
?Medication for gout
?Too much Vitamin A
?Anti-depressants
?Birth control pills

Infections, especially in children, are also possible hair loss causes. Many children get fungal infections of the scalp and they cause the hair to start thinning and falling out. The doctor can prescribe anti-fungal medications to help clear up the infection and prevent further hair thinning and loss. Diabetes and lupus are also diseases that cause hair loss. Since hair loss is often a warning sign of a disease, it is important to contact your doctor to find out the reason and what you can do to keep it under control. People look at their hair as their most important asset and should do everything they can to protect it.

William R. Nabaza of www.nabaza.com/beauty.htm

Most women suffer from gradual or sudden hair loss after
pregnancy and also during pregnancy. This is mainly due to
“raging hormones”.

Hair loss after pregnancy can be noticed in different times -
after parturition or after nursing stopped. Most of the women
get startled after seeing clumps of hair coming out while
showering or during combing. It is widely noticed that most of
the women experience hair loss after pregnancy especially around
six months after childbirth.

Hair loss after pregnancy is mainly due to the fact that women’s
body is nourishing the new born rather than feeding the hair
because the infant and the mother are the important persons not
the hair.

There are other reasonso for hair loss after childbirth. The
hormones, which are causing normal hair loss are completely lost
during pregnancy. Hence normal shedding of hair is not noticed
while pregnant. Once the baby comes out of the womb, the women’s
body returns to normal and the hair, which have not fallen
during pregnancy start to shed in conspicuous bundles. The hair
loss after pregnancy is mostly noticed in the areas around the
ears, close to the hairline, and near the temples.

There are so many hair styles available from different
hairdressers for the lactating mothers. One of the wonderful
options for coiffing hair to perfection regardless of current
hair situation is using super volumizing tonic by these mothers
to correct hair falling. This hair growth product is free from
alcohol, and is also natural and is readily available at
drugstores.

Another idea to correct hair loss after pregnancy is to go for a
better cut or new hair style. Most of the new moms don’t have
enough time to go for different hair care designs in order to
hide the hair loss after pregnancy. So ask your hubby to
baby-sit while the new mom may find little time to look after
their hair to camouflage the hair-lessened areas.

If you find enough time to look after your hair despite your new
baby, the hair loss after pregnancy can be taken care by having
woven with lowlights around your face to improve your skin and
face by masking the hair falling.

Finally, you can choose hair accessories such as ponytail with
hanging pearls. These hair accessories can be used as useful
hair-helpers to mask hair loss.

Even headbands are the perfect fit in areas of hair loss
especially near the temple or over the ears and around the
hairline. A beautiful twist or bun can be easily created in
seconds using claw or condor clip by the busy new moms..

By adopting these ways, the temporary hair loss after pregnancy
can easily be handled for attending any evening event with their
new born. Happy weekend with no fear of hair loss after
pregnancy!

?Keep that Baby Healthy Pregnancy tips to Live By

Pregnancy is an important responsibility. Now, instead of caring only for your body you have been entrusted with the life of a tiny baby. Make sure that you do all that you can to protect your baby and keep him/her and yourself healthy; you’ll be glad you did.

The first thing that should be said about keeping your baby healthy is to avoid alcohol or drugs. If you’re trying to get pregnant or suspect that you are, discontinue using either of these drugs immediately. As the old saying goes, “it’s better to be safe than sorry.”

Early prenatal care is essential to a healthy baby. If you don’t have insurance, visit a free clinic for the health and safety of your baby. Keeping up with doctor’s appointments is absolutely necessary to keep you and your baby healthy. There are so many infections or problems that can occur during pregnancy so you want to make sure you’re well taken care of.

Exercise is an important part of pregnancy as well. Besides keeping you fit exercise serves many other purposes as well. With a regular exercise plan you will feel less fatigue (pregnancy takes a lot out of you). You’ll also need strong stomach and back muscles to support your growing tummy, help during labor and delivery, and for a speedy recovery. Most women that exercise during pregnancy recover faster and more than those women that didn’t exercise.

As you know, nutrition is vital to the development of your baby. Add more fruits and vegetables to your diet and avoid unhealthy foods like fries and fried foods. You want the most nutritious foods for you and your baby. Since the baby is getting its nutrition from you it’s also important to eat more than you would if you were not pregnant. Eating more is not going to make you fat as long as it’s healthy food. Those extra calories will go straight to the baby. Don’t be concerned with the weight that you do gain because it is serving as a protector for your body and your baby. Keep your diet healthy and exercise during and after pregnancy, and you shouldn’t have a problem losing your baby weight.

Extra fluids are needed during pregnancy for your body to keep up with the increase in blood volume. Drinking more water and juices will replenish your body. A good test to see whether you’re drinking enough fluids is your urine. If it’s dark and strong smelling, then you need more fluids. The ideal urine is light yellow or clear.

Naps are important during pregnancy. Because it takes so much energy for that baby inside you to grow you need to replenish your energy with sleep. If you have the time take naps as much as you’re able. Once the baby is born, you’ll wish you had caught up on your sleep while you still could.

If you are feeling overly tired or fatigued you should see your doctor. Many women deal with depression or thyroid issues when they’re pregnant and don’t even know it. It’s important to get it dealt with early on so that it doesn’t continue after the baby is born. Or if it does, at least you’ll be getting treatment and the necessary help. Treatment of depression or thyroid issues will benefit both you and your baby. You want to be healthy in order to give that baby all the love and attention that you can. If you’re battling with these ailments, you won’t have what you need in order to properly care for your baby.

Keep up to date on your appointments and take care of yourself and your baby. Pregnancy is a time to cherish and as long as you’re healthy you’ll enjoy it that much more. Keeping yourself and your baby healthy are the most important jobs that you have during this precious time.

Unique baby names

The majority of my friends have gotten married and have started families. With the exception of a few of them, most have given their children very normal and appealing names. However, my best friend from high school spent the nine months of her pregnancy scouring books to find unique baby names. She was determined that her child would not have a name that anyone else would have. At first, I thought that was creative and wonderful, but soon she started naming some unique baby names that would make your head spin. I won?t name any of them, but I believe that some of them were just letters that she took from the alphabet and threw them together.

Finally, in her quest for unique baby names, she did manage to choose a name that was unique but not too farfetched. She altered the spelling of it a tad and was more than happy with what she?d invented. I think her husband was just relieved that she finally settled on one particular name. What is really ironic is that everyone, including my best friend, ended up giving their daughter a nickname anyway. Go figure.

As a psychiatric assistant, I get to meet some very interesting individuals. I get to meet people who didn?t have to look very far to find unique baby names. One of my patients was a sweet little boy name Lemonjello. He pronounced it quite uniquely but when I questioned his mother on the spelling of his name and why she choose it, she simply said that when she was pregnant, she ate lots of lemon jello. Therefore, he was named Lemonjello. Talk about unique baby names. The poor child. I can?t imagine putting a person through that for the rest of their life.

There is a certain amount of joy in finding unique baby names. But, keep in mind that this isn?t something that can easily be changed. You aren?t the one who has to grow up and go through the school years with a name that can be mispronounced and mocked. What?s so horrible about some of the names that used to be so popular in past years that have faded out as time has moved forward?

Another one of my friends is a teacher. She named her two children very common names because she was constantly complaining about looking over her student lists at the beginning of each year and having more and more of a problem pronouncing names and figuring out what gender a particular name is. Why? Because parents are so adamant about finding unique baby names. No one stops to think about the issues that may arise when you are looking for unique baby names. Considering the fact that your child will have to go through his or her entire life with a name that you deemed unique, choose wisely. Perhaps you may want to toss aside the unique baby names books and find something a bit simpler.

There are countless bacteria living in our mouths – some are harmless and in fact necessary to aid digestion while others are destructive to the gums and teeth. These harmful bacteria is found in plaque – the main culprit of both tooth and gum disease.

Plaque is a filmy substance made up mostly of bacteria that layers the teeth. When bacteria in plaque mix with sugar and starch from the food we eat, it releases acid that break down tooth enamel causing cavities and eventually tooth decay and tooth loss.

Bacterial plaque also leads to irritation and swelling of gums known as gingivitis. If this condition is not treated, it advances to severe gum disease called periodontitis.
Periodontitis targets the bones and tissues around the tooth, which may also end in tooth loss.

Some of the symptoms of tooth and gum disease are tooth sensitivity, persistent bad breath, and swollen or bleeding gums. Sometimes, gum disease develops with no obvious symptoms and pain. In addition, plaque is not easily visible to the naked eye. All these explain why many people are oblivious of their condition. This makes regular dental checkups all the more important in order to detect tooth and gum disease as early as possible.

Other factors that potentially lead to tooth and gum disease are smoking and stress, which both decrease a person?s resistance to infections; teeth grinding; some medications that alter chemistry in the mouth; illnesses that weaken the immune system; changes in hormones such as during puberty or pregnancy that increases sensitivity of gums; and lack of nutrients in the diet.

Neglect of oral hygiene is an underlying cause of tooth and gum disease. Plaque and tartar builds up in the teeth and gums because of improper or lack of cleaning. In effect, all it really takes to prevent tooth and gum disease is proper dental care. In other words, brush your teeth and floss. You should brush your teeth after every meal or at least twice every day in the morning and evening combined with daily flossing to clean hard-to-reach surfaces of the teeth.

Tooth and gum disease not only affects your appearance but your overall health as well. For instance, some studies show how severe gum disease may increase the risk of heart attacks and strokes. By following a precise daily routine of caring for your gums and teeth, you can protect yourself well from tooth and gum disease and its effects.

Spaying of the female dog is undertaken to control the unwanted pregnancy by crossing of some unknown or country or non-descript dogs. The spaying of the dog reduces the aggressiveness of the dog. By spaying, one can reduce the incidences of the commonly encountered reproductive diseases like pyometra.

Spaying also helps to control the population in case of stray animals and many nations are doing these operations by removing the ovaries from the female animals. Experienced veterinarians are required to do the spaying in case of female dogs and the postoperative care is to be given more emphasis. If proper control measures are not taken after the surgical operation for the removal of ovary, then the infections may start setting in and the animal may end up in development of peritonitis and then toxemia sets in, causing unwanted health problems.

Death of the dog may finally occur, if the dog is not provided an effective and proper veterinary care. A female dog that is spayed before the occurrence of first heat will have almost a zero chance of development of mammary cancer, which is more common with the dogs that are not spayed.

A female dog generally comes to heat once in eight months or so. During the heat occurrence, there is bleeding from vagina and the dog may cross with the unwanted male and the spaying activity prevents all these. In case of aged dogs, the dog may often get signs of increased thirst, anorexia, vomiting etc. that are so common with pyometra.

Pyometra means the presence of pus in the uterus. Once pyometra occurs, it involves many discomforts to the animal in addition to the cost factor involved for the therapy also. Such pyometra is totally prevented by spaying because in the case of spaying, you are removing both ovaries and the uterus.

Your Life Is About to Change – Early signs of teen pregnancy

The early signs of teenage pregnancy are obviously the same as early signs of pregnancy for all women. The difference lies in the reaction that the adolescent may have to the suspicion of pregnancy, one of fear and shame more often than not. Despite these feelings, it is critical that pregnancy is detected early in a teenager, in order to provide options and adequate prenatal care. Indeed, inadequate prenatal care is the major cause of higher pregnancy complications in women aged 15 to 19.

In any case, early signs of teenage pregnancy can include:

Missing a period. This is often the first sign which makes women suspicious of a possible pregnancy. In order to confirm pregnancy, you should do a pregnancy test followed by a pelvic exam.
Swollen or tender breasts. This is yet another of the early signs of teenage pregnancy, due to the fact that the breasts are undergoing changes to prepare for breastfeeding. Increased levels of progesterone and estrogen are responsible for these changes.
Feeling tired. Early in your pregnancy, your body is working hard to prepare to support a baby. Your heart pumps faster to increase blood flow in order to bring nutrients to the growing fetus. Also, increased levels of progesterone, which causes sleepiness, contribute to the feeling of fatigue, as do the emotional extremes you will most likely experience.
Vaginal spotting and cramping. You may see a spot of blood on your panties as another of the early signs of teenage pregnancy; this is due to implantation, when the fertilized egg implants itself in the uterine lining (about 10 to 14 days after conception). Cramping occurs early during pregnancy and is due to the expansion of the uterus to make room for the growth of the baby.
Morning sickness. Nausea and/or vomiting can actually occur at any time of the day and is mostly due to the rise in estrogen; certain triggers, like odors, can also cause nausea. Most women experience morning sickness during weeks four and eight, while many experience it about two weeks from the date of conception.
Frequent urination. The growing uterus pushes on the bladder and this causes the urge to urinate more. Most intense frequent urination occurs in the first and third trimesters.

There are other early signs of teenage pregnancy, but the ones mentioned above are the most common. Remember that symptoms often don?t occur until roughly two weeks after you?ve missed your period; this varies, however, from woman to woman and from pregnancy to pregnancy.

If you suspect you are pregnant, you can do a home urine test (using the first urine of the day) which can give reliable positive results as early as 10 to 14 days after ovulation; these tests, though, may not be able to detect a pregnancy until one week after a missed period. False negatives do occur, however. If you ?just have a feeling? got to your doctor and have a blood test or a pelvic exam done.
